About YOGAbelfast

Chandra and Julie are both teachers within the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta tradition, whose founder was Swami Vishnu Devananda, from India. Swami Vishnu Devananda himself came to Belfast in the 70s and 80s on various missions to promote peace. Chandra's only previous visit to Belfast was with Swami Vishnu Devananda in 1981 where a group of his students did headstands at the City Hall, and marched for peace down the Falls and Shankhill Road!

Now that positive change is in the air for Belfast, both Julie a
nd Chandra wanted to set up 'Yogabelfast' to share the many benefits that Yoga has brought to their lives.

About Chandra

I have taught and lived Yoga for more than half my life. My teaching has taken me to many places around the world.
My gratitude is to my teacher, Swami Vishnu Devananda, with whom I spent many years. I enjoy spreading the teaching of Yoga, it is a philosophy and practice that constantly reminds me of the deeper purpose of life, and one which has brought me a healthier and happier existence.

About Julie

Originally from Belfast, I've travelled extensively, as well as living and working in a number of different countries.
I've had a long-term interest in alternative health, and a more holistic approach to life and its issues. In addition to studies in various types of therapies and healing, I completed my Yoga Teacher Training in India, the spiritual home of Yoga, following an ancient system whereby the student lives, studies and works intensively with their teachers.
In over ten years of practice I have come to embrace Yoga as a way of life, a complete system to live by, which has given me health and vitality, peace of mind and a positive outlook, which I enjoy sharing with others through teaching.

Julie is also a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher with Yogabuddies and a 'Yoga in Chairs' (Liz Franklin USA) Teacher
