The perfect sweet treat for the festive season. Chocolatey and satifying, but good for you too! Get a great calcium hit from the sesame seeds, and amp up you antioxidants with delicious raw cacao. These were a huge hit at our charity kirtan event this weekend, and in my recent vegan cookery demo evenings. They are really quick and easy to make too.
Very moreish, lovely with a cup of cinnamon tea, and perfect for Christmas parties. Enjoy!
1 cup sesame seeds
Â¼ cup ground almonds
Â¼ cup coconut nectar (or other liquid sweetener of your choice)
Â¼ teaspoon vanilla extract/seed paste
1 or 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
Â¼ â€“ 1/3 cup dessicated coconut
Optional for rolling:
Grind the sesame seeds in a coffee grinder / with hand blender / food processor/ blender or pestle & mortar and put in a mixing bowl.
Add the almonds, coconut nectar, vanilla extract and cacao and mix together well. Can use a food processor if preferred. Good to use the back of a spoon to press the mixture together. Add in the coconut to bind together.
Roll into small balls, roll in a topping (if using) and pop in the fridge until you're ready to serve them.
